US Senate Adopts Resolution Celebrating S. Korea-US Alliance

The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a resolution marking the 60th anniversary of the South Korea-U.S. alliance and the Korean War armistice.

A U.S. Congressional source says the Senate adopted the resolution on Friday to reaffirm the U.S. will expand cooperation with the South in all sectors and maintain a solid and lasting partnership.

The resolution was also passed in celebration of President Park Geun-hye’s recent U.S. trip and noted Park is the first female leader who was elected democratically in Northeast Asia.

The U.S. House of Representatives is also moving to adopt a similar resolution on the two nations’ Mutual Defense Treaty.
