The U.S. dollar has soared above 100 yen, reaching a four-year high.

The U.S. dollar surpassed 102 Japanese yen in the Oceanian foreign exchange market on early Monday morning.

This marks the first time that the yen fell past 102 per dollar in four years and seven months since October 2008.

The Japanese currency continued dropping against the greenback after Group of Seven finance ministers gave a tacit approval of a weakening yen in last weekend’s meeting in London.
