The Ahn Sung-Ki-directed film “Hwaryeohan Hyuga” once again leads in advanced ticket sales, reclaiming its title after 13 weeks behind Hollywood blockbusters.

The film, about the 1980 Gwangju uprising and massacre, accounted for 54.07% of reservations made on the internet ticketing site Max Movie. Hollywood movies like “Spiderman 3” had held the top spot since May, but “Hwaryeohan Hyuga”, which opens locally on the 25th, has regained its number 1 place. The much-anticipated movie is the first Korean movie this year to achieve a 50% market share, despite the fact that the number of moviegoers is expected to be low this weekend due to the Asia Cup Soccer finals.
