Kim Jang-hoon Donates W100 Million to VANK
Singer Kim Jang-hoon has donated 100 million won to the Voluntary Agency Network of Korea, or VANK.
Kim earned the money by appearing in a TV commercial for the fashion brand Carte Blanche. His donation is aimed at publicizing Korea to people all over the world as a sign of protest against historical distortions by China and Japan.

Kim previously staged a concert and made placards in protest of China's distortions of ancient Goguryeo history and former Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's visits to the Yasukuni Shrine.

Kim says he first thought of VANK members as extreme nationalists, but that he later found them to be ordinary citizens. Kim has pledged to continue to act as VANK's PR ambassador.

The singer will hold the VANK Festival sometime in September or October to bridge the distance between the organization and the public.
