“Hwaryeohan Hyuga” Breaks Local Box Office Record
The Kim Ji Hoon-directed film “Hwaryeohan Hyuga” has found massive success at the local box office.
The historical film about the 1980 Gwangju uprising and massacre attracted more than 2 million viewers in its opening week.
According to the film’s distributor, CJ Entertainment, 2,148,000 movie-goers across the nation went to see the film between July 25th and August 1st. The film was shown on 536 screens.
In January, “Geunom Moksori/Voice of a Murder” garnered 2 million movie-goers in 13 days, but “Hwaryeohan Hyuga” has broken that record.
