Key Components of Domestic Fighter Jet Radar Unveiled

The Agency for Defense Development(ADD) has disclosed for the first time key components of a radar for next generation fighter jets.

Unveiling the components on Thursday, the agency said that the Active Electronically Scanned Array(AESA) radar consists of four key parts and it has developed two of them, the antenna and the power supply unit.

The two components will be equipped on the Korean fighter jet KF-X when its development is completed in 2028.

The two other main components, radar processing and transmitter-receiver units, are currently being produced by an Israeli defense firm.

Under the KF-X program, South Korea plans to produce 120 advanced fighter jets to replace the Air Force's aging fleet of F-4 and F-5 jets.
