86% of S. Koreans Want Nukes Scrapped

An international survey shows that 86 percent of South Koreans believe all nuclear weapons in the world should be eliminated.

World Public Opinion, the global pollster, surveyed 19-thousand people in 21 nations --- including nuclear powers --- on their opinion of an international agreement that would eliminate all nuclear weapons and ban any further related developments.

In the case of South Korea, 86 percent of respondents said they would agree to such an accord.

Seventy-seven percent of respondents in the United States concurred with the Korean majority as did 81 percent in the UK and 86 percent in France.

Only 46 percent agreed to such an agreement in Pakistan, an unrecognized nuclear state.
