Foreign Ministry spokesman Moon Tae-young says Korea will convene a meeting of the six-party talks' members at an appropriate time to discuss energy and economic aid to North Korea in return for its nuclear disablement.
In a news briefing before foreign correspondents Monday, Moon said 600-thousand of the pledged one million tons of fuel oil has been provided so far, 200-thousand of which the United States finished shipping earlier this month. He said Russia is currently in the process of delivering the last 50-thousand tons of its quota and China plans to have its provisions concluded by January.
Moon said South Korea has thus far provided 145-thousand tons with 55-thousand more to go.
The six-way members agreed in February 2007 to provide energy aid worth one million tons of heavy fuel oil to Pyongyang in return for its disablement of nuclear facilities and a comprehensive declaration of its nuclear program.
