Rice: US Doesn't Trust NK

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says that at no point has the U.S. trusted North Korea and that the inability to trust the North is the reason concerned parties are negotiating a verification protocol.

In an interview with NBC's Meet the Press, she was responding to criticism that the Bush administration put too much trust in Pyongyang.

She said that the members of the six-party dialogue have reviewed their commitments and responded accordingly when the North has gone forward with its obligations.

She said a lot has been achieved during the Bush administration's run in office, such as the shutting down of the North's reactor and the installation of measures that has kept Pyongyang from producing any more plutonium since September 2005.
