'Japanese PM May Visit Korea Early Next Month'

Japanese media say Japan’s Prime Minister Taro Aso will likely visit Korea for three days beginning January tenth.

The Yomiuri Shimbun said that Seoul and Tokyo are arranging the schedule for Aso’s visit as part of the two countries’ “shuttle diplomacy,” where the heads of Korea and Japan alternate yearly visits.

The prime minister will discuss the global financial crisis and the North Korean nuclear problem with President Lee Myung-bak.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda proposed the resumption of shuttle diplomacy when he visited Korea to attend Lee’s inaugural ceremony in February.
