'Japanese Interested in Travel to S.Korea'

A poll shows Japanese people are more interested in traveling to South Korea than any other Asian country.

In the survey of a thousand people by a Japanese research firm, 342 respondents chose South Korea, followed by Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and China.

The preference is believed to be due to the sharp depreciation of the Korean won against the Japanese yen.

As for other reasons for wanting to travel to Korea, a third cited Korean food, a quarter mentioned the relative proximity and 15 percent convenient shopping.
