North Korea says it will halt its nuclear disablement unless Japan fulfills its obligation to provide heavy fuel oil in accordance with the six-party nuclear agreement.

Japanese lawmaker Yoshihiro Kawakami cited a Pyongyang official from North Korea’s embassy in China.

Noting that the dismantlement of the Yongbyon nuclear facility is 90 percent complete, the North Korean diplomat stressed the remaining ten percent depends on Japan’s fulfillment of its obligation.

The diplomat strongly criticized Japan for linking the provision of energy with the issue of Japanese nationals abducted by the communist regime in the 1970s and 80s.
