A leading U.S. consumer organization has named the Hyundai Genesis the top upscale sedan for 2009.

Consumer Reports gave the rear-wheel-drive Genesis a score of 92, one point higher than Japan’s Lexus ES350.

The Genesis received top scores in safety and interior space.

Last year, the U.S. organization selected Hyundai’s Elantra SE as the top compact car and the Santa Fe as the best midsize sport-utility vehicle.
