US Tells China NK Rocket Launch will be Taken to UNSC

U.S. President Barack Obama has informed Chinese President Hu Jintao that Washington will seek U.N. Security Council action if North Korea proceeds with a rocket launch.

A U.S. administration official said Obama made the statement Wednesday during his meeting with Hu in London ahead of the G20 financial summit.

According to the official, China is concerned with the North’s possible rocket launch and does not plan to block international efforts to take the launch issue to the U.N. Security Council in the event Pyongyang pushes forward with its plan.

The White House said that Obama and Hu agreed to cooperate to resolve various regional issues, including the nuclear programs in North Korea and Iran and the crisis in Darfur.
