Russia Views NK Rocket Launch as Failure

A Russian news agency says North Korea failed to launch a satellite into orbit.

Citing a high-ranking official from Russia’s Defense Ministry, it said Russia's space surveillance system could not detect the North Korean satellite in orbit.

Earlier on Sunday, the U.S. Northern Command said no object was found in orbit.

South Korea's Defense Minister Lee Sang-hee also said Sunday that North Korea failed to put the satellite into orbit.

But North Korea declared its rocket launch a success, saying that it was transmitting data back to earth.
