Kyodo: FMs to Denounce NK Attack

Japan’s Kyodo News says the foreign ministers of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan are meeting in Washington on Tuesday to discuss a joint response to North Korea’s artillery attack on Yeonpyeong Island last week.

The report quoted Japanese Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara as saying Wednesday that the three countries will jointly denounce the North’s provocation and discuss what measures should be implemented in regards to the current situation in Northeast Asia.

Maehara, Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are expected to discuss the potential submission of the attack to the U.N. Security Council and ways to tackle the North’s uranium enrichment efforts.
