Putin Stresses Stability on Korean Peninsula

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin says that the international community should do whatever it takes to normalize the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Putin told Larry King Live that anything necessary should be done to bring stability back to the Korean Peninsula.

He said that China has levers of influence, first of all in the economic sense, but that it is more important to remember that when relating to the interests of the Korean people, moves have to be done with respect both to North and South Koreans.

Putin also said that Russia hopes prudence will prevail, emotions will be moved to the back burner, and dialogue will begin.

He said that Moscow is working with its partners, including in the U.S., to settle issues with North Korea’s nuclear programs and to settle the situation between the two Koreas.
