U.S. senators have presented a resolution condemning North Korea's recent artillery attack on Yeonpyeong Island and urging China to work with the international community to condemn the North.

Senator Jim Webb, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs, and 19 other senators presented the resolution on Wednesday.

The resolution condemns the North's attack against the South in violation of the Korean War Armistice and offers consolation to the South Korean people and the government for the damage from the attack.

The U.S. House of Representatives also passed a similar resolution in a vote of 405-2. The resolution condemns North Korea for its military provocation while urging the North to halt further provocations and abide by the Korean War Armistice and its international obligations.
