US: NK Uranium Facilities are UNSC Priority

U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice says that responses by the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) to North Korea’s move to reveal its new uranium enrichment facilities are a priority agenda.

Rice also recommended Thursday that the UNSC North Korea Sanctions Committee play an important role in beginning discussions on the current nuclear situation in North Korea.

She added that although it is regrettable that China does not support a binding statement on North Korea, it does not mean that the UNSC cannot exert its authority or take measures.

The U.S. is this month’s chair of the UNSC.
