The incoming chair of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee says that she will continue to pressure North Korea and Iran to abandon their nuclear ambitions.

Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen released the statement Wednesday on the occasion of her confirmation as the leader of the committee earlier in the day.

She said that rogue regimes never respond to anything less than hardball, also pledging to do all she can to isolate U.S. enemies while empowering and strengthening U.S. allies.

Ros-Lehtinen said that she supports strong sanctions and other penalties against those who aid violent extremists, brutalize their own people, and have time and time again rejected calls to behave as responsible nations.
