Kim Jong-il Heads North

North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, visiting Russia for the first time in nine years, is traveling to the north after passing Vladivostok.

Kim is expected to visit on Sunday a hydroelectric power plant in the Amur region in the Far East and travel to Ulan Ude, a northeastern Siberian city near Baikal Lake.

In Moscow, the Kremlin said on Saturday in a statement that Kim will visit the Siberia and the Far East region and hold a summit with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

The Kremlin said the summit will be held in the middle of next week, without specifying the venue and the time.

Kim and Medvedev are speculated to have a summit in Ulan Ude on Tuesday.
