Private and public sector experts from some ten nations will gather in Seoul for the Korea Global Forum 2011 on Monday and Tuesday to discuss issues regarding the Korean Peninsula.
The Unification Ministry and the Ilmin International Relations Institute at the University of Korea are jointly hosting the forum. Under the theme of seeking solutions to issues on the Korean Peninsula, about 20 former and current government officials and private sector experts from ten nations will talk about the situation on and peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula. The ten nations include South Korea, the U.S., Japan, China, and Russia.
Main panels include chief of the Center for Strategic and International Studies John Hamre, Georgetown University professor Victor Cha, Russian ambassador to South Korea Konstantin Vnukov, senior policy fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations François Godement, and senior Unification Ministry official Yang Chang-seok.
The “Korea Global Forum” was established last year to increase international discussion on the necessity of unification, stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula. It also seeks to coordinate opinions from the global community.
