FM Expresses Support for Libyan TNC's Democratic Road Map

Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan, who is in the U.S. for the U.N. General Assembly, said that he supports the democratic road map presented by Libya's Transitional National Council (NTC).

Kim said Tuesday at a U.N. meeting on providing support to Libya that this plan would be conducive to accelerating national unity, political stabilization, and reconstruction efforts.

The minister said that South Korea has already dispatched a team of water experts to help with the water supply. He said the team would provide support that is tailored to a wide variety of fields, including improving administrative competence and building infrastructure.

Libya’s Transitional National Council presented in early September a 20-month democratic road map. The TNC says it will revise Libya’s Constitution, conduct presidential and general elections, and launch a new government within the allotted timeframe.
