A Korean-American man has sued a Japanese school in the U.S. saying a textbook was used that contains historical distortions and claims of Japan’s sovereignty over South Korea’s easternmost Dokdo islets.

A businessman of Korean descent, Choi Jwa-seong, filled the suit at the New Jersey school Thursday, calling on the Japanese school not to use the textbook. The suit also targets the education authorities of the state for approving the use of the textbook.

Established in 1975, the school is a regular private school open to all students in the U.S. as well as Japanese students.
