Many Thai middle and high school students are enthusiastic about learning the Korean language amid the spread of Korean pop culture known as “hallyu."

This middle school in Bangkok began teaching Korean three years ago, and enrollment numbers have grown dramatically over the past several years.

Some one-hundred-20 students now take the Korean class, up from 40 in 2008.

Today, some 40 middle and high schools across Thailand teach Korean as a regular subject as interest in the language continues to grow.

The South Korean government will send 50 Korean teachers to Thailand late this month, and the native-speaking teachers will be stationed at Thai middle and high schools.
