NK Says it Will Continue to Consult 6-Party Nations on Nuke Talks

North Korea’s Vice Foreign Minister Pak Gil-yon says his country will continue to consult with the parties of the six-way nuclear talks on ways to resume the stalled nuclear negotiations.

Pak made the remark during a speech at the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, adding the North will continue to exert active efforts to establish a solid and permanent peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula.

On North Korea-U.S. relations, Pak said the U.S. has to actively engage in dialogue with the North as all nuclear problems concerning the Korean Peninsula trace back to the U.S.

He added that North Korea-U.S. relations are built on mistrust and tension, and he reiterated that the U.S. must accept the North’s calls to replace the current Korean War Armistice with a permanent peace treaty.
