S. Korea Bought $600 Mln Worth of Coventional Weapons from US

A U.S. Congressional Research Service report says South Korea purchased around 600 million dollars worth of conventional weapons from the United States last year.

The figure put South Korea in eighth place among a list of developing nations that bought the most conventional weapons in terms of value from the U.S.

India topped the list by having purchased three-point-six billion dollars worth of weapons from the U.S. last year and was followed by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt and Algeria.

The report said last year the U.S. exported a total of eight-point-six billion dollars worth of weapons to developing countries to post a 40 percent global market share. The figure led the U.S. to significantly outperform Russia which ranked second in terms of selling conventional weapons to developing countries.
