Deutsche Telekom AG’s T-Mobile USA has acted in support of Samsung Electronics as Apple seeks to ban the sale of some of Samsung’s mobile devices in the U.S.
Ahead of a hearing on Apple’s injunction request on October 13, T-Mobile filed on Wednesday an amicus curiae brief to the Northern District of California court which is handling the case between Samsung and Apple.
T-mobile said in its third party advice to the court that a decision against Samsung would "unnecessarily harm" T-Mobile and its customers. The brief also reads T-Mobile could not find comparable replacement products for the 2011 holiday season.
T-Mobile’s argument is in line with one recently filed by the U.S.’ largest telecommunication service provider Verizon. Verizon submitted last Saturday to the California court a written opinion asking the court to deny Apple’s request for a preliminary ban on Samsung devices. It claimed in the request that the ban would hinder the development and rollout of its LTE-based 4G network and thus would go against public interest.
