Japanese PM to Visit S.Korea for Summit

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda will visit South Korea on Tuesday for summit talks with President Lee Myung-bak.

Lee and Noda will hold a summit on Wednesday at the presidential office to discuss various issues such as developments in the bilateral free trade agreement talks, North Korea’s nuclear issue and ways to expand bilateral trade.

Attention is drawn on whether the two leaders will discuss Japan’s claims to South Korea’s Dokdo islets, attempts to distort history in Japanese textbooks and South Korea’s proposal of talks on the issue of compensating Korean wartime sex slaves.

Lee and Noda are scheduled to hold a joint news conference right after the summit to announce the results of their talks.
