Samsung Electronics has ranked 22nd among a list of the top global green companies released by Newsweek.

The U.S. magazine announced on Tuesday, local time, the results of its 2011 Green Rankings that evaluated companies of both developed and emerging nations.

Samsung Electronics jumped 32 notches on the list from its position in 54th last year marking the highest rank among South Korean companies in 2011.

LG ranked 65th, and Hyundai Motor Company was listed 74th. A total of eight South Korean companies made the list.

The survey factored in environmental footprint, environmental management and policies, and information disclosure and transparency to determine the rankings.
