Gadhafi Killed, Libyan Civil War Ends

Ousted Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi has been killed after being captured in his hometown of Sirte.

The Transitional National Council of Libya announced that Gadhafi died on Thursday from wounds sustained during his capture by rebel fighters.

Gadhafi was injured in his head and both legs. He died shortly after being transported to a local hospital.

Gadhafi was reportedly captured by rebel forces while he was escaping from NATO air raids in a convoy with one of his sons.

Arabic satellite TV Al Jazeera said Gadhafi’s body was placed in an Islamic mosque in the southern city of Misurata.

The former Libyan leader's death comes two months after rebel forces took over Tripoli. His death also concluded for the time being a civil war in Libya that first erupted eight months ago.
