The cause of ousted Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi’s death is being questioned amid contradicting testimonies.

The Transitional National Council of Libya announced that Gadhafi died from wounds he sustained in his head during a gunfight between the late leader’s loyalist forces and rebel fighters.

However, news agency Reuters quoted a source from the council as saying that rebel forces captured Gadhafi alive and he was beaten and then killed.

From the U.S., broadcaster CBS reported that one of Gadhafi's bodyguards shot him to prevent his arrest.
