A doctor who examined Muammar Gadhafi’s body says the former Libyan leader was captured alive and later shot to death.
Dr. Ibrahim Tika told the Arabic and English language television news channel “Al Arabiya” that Gadhafi was shot in both the stomach and in the head following his capture.
Ibrahim said the bullet in the stomach was the primary cause of death.
Meanwhile, the Associated Press has reported the burial of Gadhafi has been delayed for an investigation into his death by the International Criminal Court. A closed ceremony for the burial of Gadhafi was scheduled to take place on Friday.
U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay raised questions over the exact nature of Gadhafi’s death, saying the situation remains unclear and looking into his death is necessary.
Gadhafi’s body is currently being kept in a cold storage facility in Misrata.
A senior member of the governing Transitional National Council, Mohamed Sayeh, said that the former Libyan leader will be buried in accordance with Islamic tradition, but he will not have a public funeral.
