NYT : K-pop More Productive than American Teen-pop at Its Peak

The New York Times says American teen-pop at its peak has never been as productive when compared to Korean pop, or K-pop.

The U.S. daily made the assessment on Tuesday in an article about a sold-out performance of K-pop stars at Madison Square Garden hosted by South Korea's SM Entertainment on Sunday night.

The paper said “K-pop is an environment of relentless newness, both in participants and in style,” adding that the genre's "veteran acts are still relatively young, and they make young music.”

The report said “in the past few years K-pop has shown a creeping global influence," and "inroads, however slight, are being made into the American marketplace."
