Floods Inflict Losses on S.Korean Companies, Residents in Thailand

South Korean companies in Thailand are known to have sustained some damages from flooding that has afflicted the southeast Asian nation.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency's (KOTRA) Bangkok office announced that among some two-hundred South Korean manufacturers in Thailand, roughly ten South Korean manufacturers located at an industrial complex in the flooded Ayutthaya province suffered direct damages.

However, the office said specific amount of damages remain unknown.

The office also said that this year’s flooding is also dealing a blow to a tourism industry. This is also a serious concern for seven out of ten South Korean residents living in Thailand are known to have jobs in the industry.

From mid-October, local Korean restaurants and tour guides have been suffering significant monetary losses, due to the stream of cancellations for trips to Thailand.
