FBI: Gangs Infiltrating US Military

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Department of Justice say gangs are infiltrating the U.S. military.

The report, which was released last month, said gang infiltration of the military continues to pose a significant criminal threat, as members of at least 53 gangs have been identified on both U.S. and overseas military installations.

The report added that deployments have led to "integrating gang members with service members or dependents on or near overseas military installations, including those in Afghanistan, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Japan and South Korea."

Among gangs with members who have served in the U.S. military is a gang presumed to have ethnic Korean members given its name “Korean Dragon Family.”

The report said that gang members in the U.S. military are committing crimes such as trafficking drugs and weapons.
