US Denies Rumors on Military Action against Iran

The U.S. government is denying rumors that Israel would attack Iranian nuclear facilities with the tacit approval of the U.S. once the International Atomic Energy Agency releases a report on Iran’s nuclear program this week.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a news briefing Monday that the IAEA report will echo the U.S.’ concern about Iran’s nuclear program. He added that the U.S. is reviewing all options.

Carney said that Washington is focused on a diplomatic channel to isolate and pressure Iran to scrap its nuclear program.

An anonymous U.S. government official said that the upcoming IAEA report is very noteworthy and will encourage the U.S.’ allies--Europe in particular--to step up their pressure on Iran.
