US, European Stocks Surge

Written: 2011-11-29 08:24:54Updated: 2011-11-29 17:44:59

Both U.S. and European stock prices soared on Monday as European government bonds' yields went down.

At the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped two percent, while the Nasdaq composite index climbed around three percent.

Major stock markets in Europe also saw sharp surges in stock prices. Stock prices in Germany and Italy jumped four percent and prices in France more than five percent.

A 16-percent year-on-year rise during the Thanksgiving weekend in U.S. retail sales totaling 52-point-four billion dollars also attributed to the jump in stock prices.
