US Concerned Over N. Korea's Nuclear Activities

The United States has again expressed concerns over North Korea’s uranium enrichment activities and alleged construction of a light-water reactor.

State Department Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner said Wednesday that the North’s uranium enrichment program and alleged light-water reactor construction would violate U.N. Security Council resolutions and its own commitments under the 2005 Joint Statement. He said the U.S. remains concerned about the matter.

Toner’s remarks came shortly after the North’s Foreign Ministry said that Pyongyang is making rapid progress to build a light-water reactor to test and produce low-grade enriched uranium.
