Apple's Appeal Fails, Samsung Free to Sell Galaxy Tab in Australia

The High Court of Australia has denied Apple’s appeal to maintain a ban on the sale of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet PC, calling Apple’s claim groundless.

The ruling followed just two hours after a court hearing opened Friday morning. The court’s decision has enabled the South Korean company to place it’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 back on the market in Australia just ahead of Christmas.

Samsung won its fight against Apple in an Australian appeals court over the sales ban on Galaxy Tab 10.1 late last month, but Apple filed an appeal as anticipated.

However, a separate suit filed by Apple against Samsung over patent rights’ infringement continues. The two companies are locked in legal battles in more than ten countries, as Apple has been accusing Samsung of copying its products.
