U.S. news outlets report the death of Osama bin Laden was the most buzzed about issue on Facebook this year.

News outlets say roughly ten percent of English-speaking Facebook users posted messages about bin Laden after his death in May.

The second hottest issue was the Green Bay Packers’ victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in February for the team’s fourth Super Bowl title. Stories about the trial of Casey Anthony who was accused and eventually acquitted of killing her two-year-old daughter took third place.

The fourth hottest issue on Facebook was actor Charlie Sheen’s dismissal from the sitcom “Two and a Half Men.” The death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs created the fifth largest buzz on the social networking site.
