The government will apparently announce additional sanctions against Iran which is suspected of illicit nuclear development.

A Foreign Ministry official said on Sunday that the government will likely release a set of fresh sanctions against Iran as early as this week as soon as related ministries finish reviews for the technical and legal issues.

The fresh sanctions will reportedly include an import ban on Iranian petrochemical products.

The official, however, said that the government will have to rely on domestic firms to suspend imports of such products, given the lack of related regulations.

The planned sanctions are in line with the U.S. administration's imposing of fresh sanctions against Iran in November.
