Thailand Unlikely to Meet Tourism Goal Due to Flooding

It appears that Thailand will not meet its tourism goal this year due to four months of devastating floods that plagued the nation.

Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports said the Southeast Asian country has attracted 18-point-three million foreign tourists this year, up 15 percent from last year. However, the ministry said the nation is still 700-thousand shy of it's goal to attract 19 million foreigners, which it is unlikely to do by the end of 2011.

Thailand's tourism income now stands at roughly 700 billion baht, up 18 percent from a year earlier.
