U.S. House Passes Resolution Calling for Release of Korean War POWs

The U.S. House of Representatives has adopted a resolution calling for the swift repatriation of South Korean and American prisoners of war (POW) and civilian abductees taken to North Korea during the Korean War.

The U.S. House on Tuesday held a plenary session and unanimously adopted Resolution 376.

The act also urged Pyongyang to provide information on whether civilian abductees are alive or dead and to allow reunions with families or return their remains.

The passage of the resolution will likely make the repatriation of Korean War prisoners of war and civilian abductees in the North an international issue.

Meanwhile, the resolution requires Washington raise the issue of civilian abductees to the North, which could be on the agenda in future bilateral talks between the U.S. and the North.
