A South Korean couple was enjoying their honeymoon on the cruise ship Costa Concordia when the huge vessel ran aground off the coast of an Italian island last Friday night.

The couple was rescued in overnight efforts to search for survivors from the wrecked vessel, which had 42-hundred people aboard.

Located on the upper deck, the South Korean honeymooners’ room was fortunately not submerged. But they were locked in the ship for 31 hours, since the exit was blocked.

The two waited for rescuers to come for more than a day, eating cookies and water while they watched the hours tick by.

Overall, 34 South Korean passengers were on the cruise ship and all have been confirmed safe.

A total of six deaths have been reported from the wreck and 29 others are missing. Italian authorities are continuing search and rescue efforts.
