Massive Demonstrations Held in front of Capitol Hill

Massive demonstrations were held in front of Capitol Hill in Washington on Tuesday as U.S. Congress opened its first session of the year after a long recess.

Some one-thousand protesters marched from Freedom Plaza to Capitol Hill before holding mass rallies on the West Lawn of the Capitol, denouncing the incompetence of the political sector and protesting collusion between politicians and businesspeople. The protesters are part of a larger group of attending the mass demonstration on Wall Street.

Some of the protesters climbed over a plastic wall that police had put up and clashed with police when they reached the steps in front of Capitol Hill’s main entrance.

Congress has placed roughly 100 police around Capitol Hill and set up an iron fence to block the protesters’ entrance.
