Hong Kong media report that about one-thousand villagers have held a rally against land seizures by local officials in Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong Province in China.

The protesters demanded due compensation for their seized land in the rally held in front of Guangzhou's city government headquarters on Tuesday afternoon.

They warned that their protest could become a second “Wukan” if their demands are not properly accepted.

The protesters complained that corrupt officials in connection with crime organizations have replaced the rule of communism.

The rally follows a long-running anticorruption demonstration by residents in the southern Chinese village of “Wukan” in Guangdong Province that ran from September through December last year.
