European Youths Associate S.Korea with N.Korea, K-Pop, Seoul

A survey finds that European youths usually associate South Korea with North Korea, K-Pop and Seoul.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) recently conducted a survey on around one-thousand youths in five major European cities on the image of South Korea.

Nine percent said North Korea came to mind when they thought of South Korea and others citied K-Pop and Seoul. The respondents also named war, Samsung, kimchi, the 2002 FIFA World Cup and taekwondo.

Awareness of South Korea and a preference for Korean culture and the country itself were highest in Hungary, followed by France, Italy, Britain and Germany.
