US to Launch Campaign Against School Violence

A nationwide campaign will be launched in the United States next month to root out school violence and hazing.

Major American civic groups, including the National Save the Family Now Movement and the National Newspaper Publishers Association, plan to officially kick off the National Anti-Hazing/Anti-Violence Task Force and hold the first National Anti-Hazing/Anti-Violence Conference at South Carolina State University for two days from February 24th.

The task force held a preliminary meeting in Washington on Wednesday and devised a 12-point strategic plan of action against violence and hazing.

Under the plan, the task force plans to convene “Engagement and Empowerment Rallies” to prevent school violence and hazing in 25 cities over the next three years.

The task force will also develop an "Anti-Hazing Curriculum" that will target public and private schools to teach young people ways to resist hazing and bullying. The task force plans to use social media, including the Internet and social networking services, to inform the community on efforts to stamp out hazing.
