U.S. Troops in Korea to See 'No Significant' Change

The head of the U.S. Pacific Command, Admiral Robert Willard, says there will be no significant changes in the scale or function of U.S. troops in Korea.

Willard told reporters Friday about the possible changes in U.S. troops in Korea following the planned cut in the U.S. defense budget.

Willard said appropriate measures would be taken depending on the situation on the Korean peninsula. U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta also said in a prior press conference that the U.S. Army would maintain a meaningful defense position in the Asia-Pacific region and that there would be no large change in troop strength.
